Greetings: To give you an idea about my background. My name is Mr. Rodriguez and I am the physical education teacher for Wentworth Intermediate School. This upcoming 2021-2022 school year will mark the start of my 21st years as a teacher. Prior to becoming a teacher, I garnered over a decade of experience as a Para Educator/Security Officer in the Chicago Public Schools system. This includes experience as a disciplinarian, both at the elementary and high school level.
Most people do not know that I am a regular education teacher and taught 5th grade my first 2 years here at Wentworth Intermediate School. I have multiple endorsements in the areas of: Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Industrial Technology (woodshop/carpentry), as well as Physical Education. I have a Masters of Education in teaching. As you might not be aware, I am the father of two children. My daughter is a graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana. She is a 7 year teacher with Chicago Public Schools. My son attends a university in Illinois completing requirements to become a Civil Engineer.
In accordance with the Illinois Common Core Curriculum, the goal in physical education is for students to come prepared to do a variety of exercises/activities (which includes: Strength, Cardiovascular and Range of Motion) that will enable them to achieve good health and maintain it. It is our objective to help each student understand the importance of maintaining a good health conscience that will carry over with them for a lifetime. It is my sincere hope that you, as parents or guardians, support these efforts immensely. Thank you! Sincerely, Mr. E, Rodriguez
